Contents are clean, firmly bound with end page hinges intact, a previous owner name stamp on the 3rd free page and tissue paper overlay to the Frontispiece. The stitching is visible at the spine but the pages appear securely bound. Age toning is noted with an occasion ...

She married Edward Payson Terhune, a New Jersey clergyman. In 1844 she moved to Richmond, Virginia, then moved to Newark, New Jersey in 1859. She later wrote with her daughter Christine Terhune Herrick, and her son, Albert Payson Terhune was also a writer. She died in New York City in 1922. She started publishing household advice and cookbooks in 1871, starting with the successful Common Sense in the Household. This volume is sub-titled A Manual of Practical Housewifery.
